Hira Shahid Kazim was born in Karachi, in a highly educated Rajput family of traditional orientation. She completed school from Pakistan Marine Academy in 2003. Her high school studies were in premedical science from Govt. College for Women Shahrah-e-Liaquat. Her graduation was in Medical Physiology from University of Karachi in 2010. Her major area of study was Neurophysiology. Later she had her post graduate studies and Clinical Research Certification from Dow University of Health Sciences in 2014.
She started her professional career as Biology Lecturer in March 2011 and served in Pakistan Marine Academy for two years. She has worked at Bentham Science Publishers and The City School as well. Her aptitude for arts flourished at the age of seven. Since art is an inherent mastery to her. She remains a great enthusiast and practitioner of the Arts in all its forms despite her full-time engagement with completely different educational and professional backgrounds. In 2015, she established her art studio and started practicing art as a profession. The insatiable desire for exploration has made her able to work in all mediums of fine arts. Her work is based on wide study backgrounds such as nature, human behaviors, physiology, psychology, environment and history. At present she has worked in many different genres of fine arts i.e. Drawing, Abstract, Figurative, Landscapes, Contemporary, Islamic Art, Calligraphy, Embroidery, Mixed Media, Truck Art and her most treasured Science Art.
Being an educationist, she teaches fine arts, biological sciences and business/curation of arts. In 14 years of professional experience, she has conducted numerous art courses and workshops in her studio and in collaboration with different institutions. Her students are enumerated in hundreds and in all age groups. She teaches, in pursuance of mentoring and to build love and enthusiasm for knowledge.
Hira’s artistic attributes are completely innate; but she continues to fortify her knowledge through Academia. She has taken up many advanced educational courses, workshops and one-on-one mentoring programs from different art institutions and teachers. Indus Valley School of Arts and Architecture, The Museum of Modern Art, University of Florida, Università Bocconi, The University of Melbourne, University of Toronto, Master Painter and Teacher Shahzad Amanullah, Artist Mohan Das (Late), Khattat Naveed Maroof and Master Truck Artist Haider Ali are few of the names she has been benefited from.
Hira has dedicated her life to Arts, Science and Education. She is stretching her devotion to these fields through painting, teaching, mentoring and business of arts. In 2020, She has expanded her studio in segments to facilitate her own art practice in HSK Art Studio, Art Academics in HSK Art Academy and Business/Curation of Art through online HSK Art Gallery.
She joined the family business of Pharmaceutical Regulatory Consultancy in August 2022 named, The Regulatory Bureau. At present she is the Managing Director of the firm. She is married to Mirza Danish Hussain Barlas and mother of two beautiful daughters Amna Jehan Barlas and Aliya Jehan Barlas. She is living and working in Karachi and Islamabad.
